GUELPH, ON—July 30, 2019—LifeLearn Animal Health today announced that Dr. Debbie Stoewen, Director of Veterinary Affairs, will speak at the upcoming AVMA Convention, August 2-6, 2019 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington D.C.
As a highly respected speaker, educator, and practitioner who’s given over 350 presentations internationally in the areas of veterinary wellness, veterinary-client-patient communication, teamwork, organizational culture, and leadership, Dr. Debbie will inspire a fresh vision of the possibilities for veterinary professionals. With a focus on promoting wellness, cultivating happiness, improving workplace culture, and enhancing client service, she’ll invite attendees to step out of their comfort zones and into the learning zone!
Dr. Debbie’s Speaking Dates at the 2019 AVMA Convention
Monday, August 5th from 10:00 – 10:50 a.m.: Dr. Debbie will present Veterinary Happiness: From the Personal to the Professional, a session that explores the science of happiness, how it contributes to personal and professional success, and the keys to happiness in the workplace. From 1:00 – 1:50 p.m., Dr. Debbie will focus on workplace culture in Creating a Culture of Wellness, sharing why we need to be talking about wellness in the workplace, the features of a “well” workplace, and how to create a workplace wellness program.
Tuesday, August 6th from 8:00 – 9:50 a.m.: Things will liven up with Improv Your Conversations for Success! Workplace culture is the topic – what it is, how it influences organizational success, and how it is “created, revealed, sustained, and changed” through conversations. This session will incorporate fun shared activities to bring alive the key aspects of ‘what we say’ and ‘how we say it’ that create the culture through which success can be achieved. This will be followed by a TED Talk-style of presentation from 10:00 – 10:50 a.m. with Part 1 of Fostering “The Client Experience.” This session, thought-provoking by nature, is based on personal learnings as a foster parent, caring for children in need. It weaves from one story to another to invite a new understanding of “the client experience,” one that comes from a truly human perspective. Part 2, from 11:00 – 11:50 a.m., will delve into the practical aspects of how to create client experiences through a staged event with the audience directing the veterinary team members through an appointment with a simulated client. Moving in and out of the scenario, attendees will question, reflect on, and incorporate the communication elements that create client experiences.
